EPISODE 127 SHOW NOTES

I finished my Felix and isn’t she a peach (or a pink if I’m going to be particular about it)!

So I had just enough yarn after all and that situation was made much less stressful by working the sleeves first, 10 rows on each sleeve at a time, once the sleeves (which did grow after blocking) were complete I just worked the body until the yarn ran out. Hurrah.

I used some long discontinued Artesano Aran in the colour Hot Pink that was frogged from an ancient, never worn, crochet project, it’s a 50% wool, 50% alpaca mix.

I made neck modifications as per Gentlehawke’s project notes which you can find here, I still find the neck a bit loose for my liking but much improved for using her notes. I also used a standard bind off in pattern because I forgot to read the pattern (story of my life).

I made the second size and used 455g of yarn in total, the fit is lovely; loose, relaxed and comfortable. I do think the first size would fit me too though and I shall definitely make another in that size because I’m so intrigued.

This is my first completed project from my #makenine2022mal list.

Smora

WIPs

I started on the colourwork section of my Smora hat after a whole load of hard to work, black ribbing!

The pattern is from The Shetland Trader Book 3 and can be worked as either a beanie or a beret.

I’m using the recommended yarn which is Jamieson & Smith and whilst it looks lovely, it is itchy, makes my hands feel a bit gidgy when I’m knitting.

This is another of my #makenine2022mal projects and I’m hoping that I can actually wear it when it’s finished because it really is pretty itchy.

WIPS

I’m also working on my Stepping Stones socks, they are just so perfect and my first pair of DK weight socks. They are also on my #makenine2022mal list and the pattern is from Clara Parkes’ Knitters Book of Socks.

Magic Stepping Stones

Viajante

WIPS

I’ve also been working on two older WIPS both of which are nearly finished but not quite there.

The first is my Princess Polka Dots blanket, a design by Betsy that I’m bringing to life on her behalf and the second is my Viajante (a pattern by Martina Behm) which I have been diligently working on every night for the past two weeks and it’s finally starting to look like it. I will probably show you next week.

The yarn for my Viajante is Malabrigo Lace in the Cognac colourway (I think now discontinued) and she is from my 2021 make nine list.

If you want to be kept up to date about my product launches and discount codes, they are sent via my newsletter so subscribe and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.

AND FINALLY…

I had a lovely package in the post this week from Real Seeds, I ordered some lovely vegetable seeds and can’t wait to get planting.

I also won a prize for taking part in last year’s make nine, I won one of Amy’s beautiful (and long coveted) project bags as well as some Harry Potter themed yarn from A Homespun House.

Enjoy the podcast folks and remember to love one another always especially if your government disapproves!

Happy knitting.
