episode 125 | yarn shortages

EPISODE 125 SHOW NOTES

Nothing finished from me this week, instead I seem to have had a week of naughty projects misbehaving.

I’m also a bit giddy because we finally got rid of our Sky box and so we can no longer be programmed by the programming!

Ha, see what I did there!

In this episode I’m wearing my recently finished Sweater No.9 made with Cascade 220 Heathers in the Pumpkin Spice colourway held together with some rust coloured silk mohair.

Felix needs to behave!

NAUGHTY WIPS

The naughtiest project is my Felix pullover but it’s not really Felix’s fault, it’s mine and the fact that I’m using frogged yarn and might not have enough - which is always made ten times more frustrating when it’s an old, discontinued yarn.

I’m using the beautiful, beautiful Artesano Aran in the colour Hot Pink (long discontinued), it’s a 50% wool, 50% alpaca mix and is super soft and lovely to work with, so glad I frogged the crochet cardigan for the yarn.

I’m planning on working the sleeves next, before finishing the bottom hem, and seeing if I have enough yarn for them. If not, I will frog back and re-work in the smaller size.

MORE NAUGHTY WIPS

My Smora hat is also proving to be a bit naughty and yet again it’s a yarn management issue. I’ve just used one ball of the black yarn for the ribbing alone and so I’m not sure if I’m going to have enough for the rest of the hat. Gah.

The Smora hat pattern is from The Shetland Trader Book 3 and using the recommended Jamieson & Smith yarn which I’m not really enjoying. This hat is on my Make Nine list for this year.

24 Days Socks

WELL BEHAVED WIPS

I’m continuing to work on my final pair of Christmas socks - I desperately want to be done with all my Christmas socks by the end of January - these are another pair (my third) using my 24 Days sock pattern. This pair are being made with my yarn advent swap from Amy of Noble Character Crafts paired with Aloe Sockwool in White (100).

Check out Amy’s podcast here to see her version of these socks using the lovely Knit Picks Stroll yarn in Midnight Heather (what a great guess), I think they look fabulous and I totally want a pair.

You can buy the 24 Days Socks on either Ravelry or Etsy depending on your personal preference.

NEW

I started something new this week, a pair of DK weight socks from my Make Nine list. The socks are the Stepping Stones from Clara Parkes’ Knitters Book of Socks and I’m using some gifted DK weight yarn in pretty pastel unicorn colours (Betsy loves it).

I also spent quite a lot of time this week on my Princess Polka Dots blanket, the pattern should be coming soon and if you want to be kept up to date about my product launches and discount codes, they are sent via my newsletter so subscribe and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.

Enjoy the podcast folks and remember to love one another and fight for your freedoms.

Happy knitting.
