EPISODE 124 SHOW NOTES
I’ve now finished three of my Christmas socks and now only have one pair left on the needles. WAHOO! What this means is that I’ve managed to cast on a couple of new things this week.
FINISHED
This week I finished my two colour 24 Days Socks.
They are smashing.
I absolutely love the way the pretty pastel yarn (a one off club colour from Woolly Mama Yarns called Candy Floss) colour changes in such a subtle way against the deep blue of the Opal Uni 4ply in the colour Petrol.
You can buy the 24 Days Socks on either Ravelry or Etsy depending on your personal preference.
I also had a bit of final finishing on my fourth Rib & Gather hat that was officially finished last week but was waiting for its pretty pink pompom to arrive.
I think the fluffy pom transforms the hat into something magical and I can confirm that the Birthday girl was really happy with her hat.
WIP
I really only worked on one of my WIPs this week, and I didn’t even work on that much because black is such a tricky colour to knit on, especially in winter. I’m knitting the Smora hat from The Shetland Trader Book 3 and using the recommended Jamieson & Smith yarn which I’m not really enjoying. This hat is on my Make Nine list for this year.
NEW
I’ve started a new pair of car socks. These are going to match the socks I made for Darren for Christmas using the leftover yarn from the Studiomeez sock set. I’ve cast on 60sts for these socks because the Studiomeez yarn doesn’t have any nylon content and I think that’s why the socks worked up quite big.
I also cast on the second item from my Make Nine list, the Felix Pullover.
I’m using frogged Aran weight yarn from Artesano which is 50% wool and 50% alpaca and super, super soft and smooshy. I think the colourway was called bright pink. I had originally used the yarn in 2016 to make a crochet cardigan that I loved making but never wore and frogging it was a nightmare because the cardigan was seamed.
In other news all my product launches and discount codes are sent via my newsletter so if you want to subscribe and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.
Enjoy the podcast folks and remember if it looks like tyranny and feels like tyranny then it’s probably tyranny.
Happy knitting.
