EPISODE 104 SHOW NOTES

It’s been hot and I haven’t got much done!

FINISHED OBJECTS

However I did manage to finish my Underwing Mitts, hurrah!

How amazing are they? Bit like sitting a maths exam but still, amazing.

The pattern is by Erica Heusser and I’ve dithered so much about making them that this year I put them on my Make Nine list to make sure that I couldn’t back out. And it worked, ha!

I tried to match Erica’s sample colours because I love how they look so I’m using Madeline Tosh Merino Light in Thunderstorm (black), Cascade Heritage in Snow (5618) and a leftover mini from the Autumnal Berries mini set from Birdstreet Yarn that didn’t make it into my knitted Six Wives Shawl.

Car Socks

HALF FINISHED

I finished my first car sock using the new Downtown sock yarn from Scheepjes in the Baker’s Corner colourway (413) and I’ve started on the second sock already even though I won’t be sitting around in the car doing the school run for the next six weeks.

I also finished one Zig Zag Sock using Scheepjes Metropolis in the Bangalore (052) colourway for the main body of the sock and Bogota (050) for the contrast.

The pattern is currently being tested and should be launched soon.

WIPS

As mentioned I didn’t get much knitting done this week because of the intolerable heat but I did manage to dig out an old project from the vault that is made using lovely cool cotton and so a bit easier to manage when overheating is on the cards.

This is the Miley Hexi Blanket made using my Miley Hexi motif which is a free pattern available here.

I’m using Scheepjes Catona in a variety of shades, I won’t mention them all here but I will tell you that the main colour (which I love) is called Topaz (179).

There is a video tutorial for this motif too, you can find that here but I have changed how I’m joining this blanket and instead of crocheting the motifs together, which I do prefer visually, I’m now joining them as I go, which I’m not so keen on to look at but it gives a nice flat bottom to the blanket.

NEW & NOTABLE

A couple of club skeins this week, my usual Sweet Tooth Yarn Club from Woolly Mama Yarns as well as the Fabulous Fauna Club in DK weight just because the image of the pink bird was so cute.

Enjoy the podcast folks, and don’t forget to question everything for all is not as it seems. Happy knitting, happy crocheting, happy hugging and smiling and being human again. Peace!
