pattern relaunch | bon bon blanket
This pattern has long been due an overhaul, mainly because the original yarn used, back in 2015, Rooster Almerino DK, is now discontinued, but also because I gave away that sample and I really wanted to have a version of this blanket in my collection at home.
The Bon Bon Blanket was one of my very first patterns. I had originally designed it to celebrate my daughter going from a cot to ‘big girl’ bed and it turned out so pretty that I wrote up the pattern and sold it to Love Crochet magazine too.
The original yarn used is hard to beat, it was such a lovely thick and high definition yarn and it came in such lovely colours, I think the yellow I used in was called Custard and who doesn’t like custard, eh?
When looking for a replacement, I didn’t want to use a typical 100% acrylic yarn, but instead something with some added definition so I decided on Sirdar Snuggly DK which is 55% nylon, 45% acrylic and has a slightly more defined texture as a result. Also it’s super soft and machine washable so perfect in all the ways.
The only thing you have to watch with snuggly DK is the colours can be discontinued quite often so buy all you need in one go if you’re making a big project!
As well as making a second sample I also re-worked the pattern pdf to include details of both samples - they have slightly different but similar design layouts - including all yarns used and a second option on the epic bobble edging.
The Bon Bon Blanket can be purchased on either Ravelry or Etsy - I always offer two options to purchase now as I know many of you are not so keen to use Ravelry these days.
New launches and relaunches are always shared with my newsletter subscribers first and this time they also got a copy of the relaunched pattern for free! So if you want to be included next time you can subscribe below.
I hope that all is good with you, sending you tons of best wishes and happy hooking!
