pattern launch | 24 days crochet cowl
I knew after I launched the knitted version of this cowl that I would want to design a crocheted version and whilst it wasn’t a quick and easy design - I had to try three different techniques to get it to look similar to the knitted version - it was definitely worth it.
For my original sample, the rainbow version, I used the same DK weight Indie Yarn Club advent that I used for the original version and for my main colour I used Stylecraft Special DK in White.
I also used a 4mm hook and to be honest the fabric is a little too stiff for my liking so I tried a variety of different yarns and hook sizes and eventually, after much sampling and even more testing, I settled on using Stylecraft Special DK and a 5mm hook.
So with confirmation that my tester got the same size as me using Stylecraft Special DK and a 5mm hook I was happy to launch the pattern. To be clear, you can use any variety of DK weight yarns you like and any size hook too but I just needed to be able to give you a standard size and gauge so you kind of know what to expect.
Anyway all the yarn details I used can be found on the purchase pages on Ravelry and Etsy.
As usual the officially launch took place via my mailing list and that is the only place where you get early notification of product launches and a launch discount.
The pattern includes the written pattern in both UK and US terminology and it has been extensively tested and re-tested for accuracy.
