EPISODE 92 SHOW NOTES

FINISHED OBJECTS

I finished my bobble hat designed and made with Sirdar Adventure although it is a bit too big for even my massive head!!

I am gutted.

I really like the yarn which is an acrylic/wool mix (80% acrylic, 20% wool) and I think it looks nice flopped back with the bobble hanging down but even styled like that, the hat still feels like it’s going to swamp my head, although it was really comfortable to wear on snow day 2021.

I really love a white hat though so I’m determined to try again, maybe on 10mm needles this time, so watch this space.

WIPS

I finally decided (after a lot of fannying around and much help from you) to start again with my Christmas Eve cast on and this time ditch the blue.

I’m much happier with how they’re looking and the yarn, which is Bottle Brush Christmas Trees from Dandelion & Dogwood together with the new lace sock pattern from Sandra Paul (Cherry Heart) called Sugar Icing Socks are the perfect combination.

I’ve decided to continue with the main colour for the heel flap too (controversial I know!) and might do the toe in a contrast if I fancy it.

Still not sure.

I’m also working on the Roll Neck Poncho from Sirdar in Haworth Tweed using the Yorkshire Stone colourway and I’ve now finished one full pattern repeat - it is gorgeous!

This is how it will eventually look, I’m so excited about finishing this project but I do feel that it will take me quite some time.

I’ve finally managed to re-start my Viajante project successfully after my hole discovery last episode.

I’m using Malabrigo Lace in the Cognac colourway and I had to rip back and number of times (frustratingly) and ended up buying some lace needles from Laughing Hens, these ones, instead of standard ones and now I feel like things are going much better.

I also dragged my lockdown blanket out of the bottom of a basket (it seemed fitting given that we are back in lockdown again) and am working on that again. You can find the free pattern here.

NEW & NOTABLE

I bought a new and rather lovely bag from Eva at Coco & Flora it uses a quilting technique called Dresden Plate and I am totally and utterly in love with it.

I’ve been on the hunt for new neon-friendly indie yarn dyers and found Tracey, hurrah! Her shop is Somerset Yarns on Etsy and you can find her here.

Enjoy the podcast folks, and don’t forget to reject the fear factory and shine bright.
