EPISODE 136 SHOW NOTES

Ooh it’s a shorter episode, much distracted by my garden calling me on a sunny day, but I finished two things this weeks which I think is probably quite incredible!

Adrift Shawl

FINISHED

I finished my Easter shawl, the Adrift by Veera Valimaki which is one of the projects on my #makenine2022mal list (the fifth item too, wahoooooo)! and available in Laine Magazine Issue 5 and also as a single pattern to buy.

It is a fabulously simple knit, and I used some of my oldest stash from 2016, Peony by Cosmic Strings and completely wiped out both 100g skeins. I have a tiny ball left and I was five rows short of the end - I didn’t want to risk running out of yarn when casting off the 490 plus stitches!!

I love it. I don’t think she’s so pretty held up to the light but she looks lovely on and is super soft and squishy too.

I used a little trick that I learned on Ravelry and included a yarn over between the last two knit stitches of every row, dropping this yarn over on the way back.

ALSO FINISHED

I finished my crochet version of the 24 Days Cowl. Well I had it almost finished when I first recorded and then I had to go back and record a second segment because I really finished it!

It is a bit long and also a bit tight, I like it on but I do think that at it’s current size it would be better for a Betsy sized child.

Crochet version of the 24 days cowl

I am working on some different heights and widths and would really like some more people to test this pattern for me (thank you to Bridget and Mikki who have already volunteered).

You can email me at emma@potterandbloom.com for more details.

I’m used DK weight yarn from my advent 2021 by Indie Yarn Club. I used these rainbow minis together with Stylecraft Special DK in White (only used 43g) and a 4mm hook.

HALF FINISHED

I finished one of my Easter rainbow socks and they look super. A lovely stress-free knitting project that I carry around with me in case I get a few spare minutes to knit.

The yarn is Regia Pairfect Rainbow Stripes in the colour 1731 which is a bit hard to find in the UK, I have tried to find it but failed, do let me know if you can source this yarn anywhere.

WIPS

My main wip this week has been my second pair of butterfly socks. This pair will be worked in white with rainbow butterflies and a different heel (a heel flap and gusset as opposed to the shadow wrap heel I did on the original pair) so that I can offer both heels in the pattern. Also I personally prefer a heel flap and gusset on a shortie sock, I’m not sure why this is.

Thank you to all the lovely people who agreed to test knit this pattern for me, you should have received the first version pattern by now and if not it will be with you by this evening (when I get back from the beach, wahooooooo)!!

If you want to be kept up to date about my product launches and discount codes, they are sent via my newsletter so subscribe and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.

Happy knitting.
