EPISODE 131 SHOW NOTES

ALL about my finally finished Viajante!

Viajante

FINISHED, FINISHED, FINISHED!

After 14 long months, I have finally finished my Viajante and it is fabulous.

The pattern by Martina Behm is so unique and wonderful, I highly recommend it.

She has the best eye for inventive ways to make shawls and scarfs and this is the second pattern of hers that I’ve made - the other being the Match & Move which is also epic!

I used 4 x 50g of Malabrigo Lace in the Cognac colourway (now discontinued), although the pattern calls for one skein of Wollmeise Lace Garn which comes in a 300g skein but is not available to buy in the UK (maybe if you search about a bit though).

Nevertheless, even with 200g I think the shawl is fabulously big and perfect for wearing on chilly mornings when I’m drinking my first cup of tea.

Plenty big, no?

I started the working on the pattern after seeing it on Kiko’s Knitting Podcast and including it in my Make Nine 2021 list. I knew that it was going to take quite a while to make and I pegged it as a year long project and didn’t put too much pressure on myself.

But, at the start of this year I realised that a. I wanted it, and b. if I didn’t put a particularly big effort in then it would never be finished so I started working on it every evening as my watching telly project. Two months later and she is done. Hurrah.

PLANS

I’m swatching for my next #makenine2022mal project, the Wool & Honey from Andrea Mowry. I’ve already swatched once and was way out with the recommended needles so am trying again, going down a needle size and will see where I get too, fingers crossed.

I’m using the recommended yarn, Brooklyn Tweed Loft, in the Cinnabar colourway, which I got for Christmas.

If you want to be kept up to date about my product launches and discount codes, they are sent via my newsletter so subscribe and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.

Enjoy the podcast folks and remember to stay happy and free.

Happy knitting.
