EPISODE 116 SHOW NOTES

Firstly we would like to thank you for all your kind words about our lovely Tilly, it really meant a lot to have your messages of support during such a difficult time. She was such a wonderful companion and is much missed, the house seems empty without her and I’m pretty sure the postman misses her too!

NEW PATTERN LAUNCH

Today I’m launching another new pattern (winning) and amazingly I’ve managed to keep this a secret for the past few months. The 24 Days Socks are my advent pattern for 2021 and it has been designed specifically with your yarn advent calendar, mini skein sets or box of sock yarn scraps in mind.

I used my Biffsugar Yarns advent calendar from 2019 which is the same yarn I’m using for my 2020 Granny Advent pattern - you can find that free pattern here - and for my main colour I used Cascade Heritage in the Snow (5618) colourway. I think they look really Christmassy and I hope you love the pattern as much as I do.

The pattern is micro-striped together with an alternating slip stitch pattern (from my favourite vintage stitch dictionary) and I’ve used the advent yarns in the order they were opened which show how nicely the colours rainbow fade together.

24 Days Socks

The 24 Days sock pattern will be launched later today, I just need to get everything linked up and prepare an email for my newsletter subscribers who always get first dibs and a launch discount to boot. Once newsletter subscribers have been notified all the launch materials will go live.

So if you want to subscribe to my newsletter and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.

I am planning on making a second pair of 24 Days with this year’s advent calendar and also a two colour version of the socks using one of my precious skeins of Christmas yarn. I’m pairing Fairy Godmother from Biffsugar Yarns with Petrol (5187) from Opal Uni 4ply and I’m currently keeping that project in my Christmas skater bag from Jibbyroo Sews.

Rib & Gather Hat no. 3 - it’s so fluffy!

FINISHED

I’ve finished another Rib & Gather hat. I am obsessed.

This time I used Sirdar Saltaire in the Mole (307) colourway (left over from my Stockholm Slipover) and I used just over one 50g ball - shame I couldn’t finish it with one ball eh?

This time I made sure I didn’t go over 25cm for the height and I worked a k2tog decrease all the way round instead of alternating between ssk and k2tog. As predicted, this didn’t make much of a difference. Check out the #ribandgatherhat hashtag on instagram to see all the lovely versions of this hat already made.

HALF FINISHED

I’ve finished one of my October socks that I’m designing using the lovely orange yarn from Lisa’s Attik. These socks were due to be going into testing soon but there are a few niggles with the pattern that I want to sort out before testing. The yarn is lovely though and I’ve paired it with a solid colour from West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in the colour Nutmeg 0630.

NEW

I treated myself to some Christmas yarn, again from Biffsugar (I’m having a long overdue Biffsugar day today), and bought the Jingle All The Way mini skein set, you can find it here if there are still some available.

Enjoy the podcast folks and remember to trust and love one another even if the mainstream media tells you not to.
