episode 115 | magnificently hideous

EPISODE 115 SHOW NOTES

The beast is complete. I have finished the Stephen West Shawlography MKAL2021, I am done and can now look like a court jester/circus clown/art teacher *delete as necessary, whenever I fancy.

NEW PATTERN LAUNCH

I launched my new free hat pattern using the lovely Jewelspun from Sirdar. The hat is called Rib & Gather and you can find the free pattern here.

I made both of mine in the Sandstone Sunset colourway and I love how different they both look. I have decided to put a bobble on the lighter one, together with a button fixing as advised by you lovely lot, and it seems to be the one that I reach for the most even though I thought I loved the darker version the best.

rib & gather hat

You can make two ribbed hats (that look completely different) plus two giant pompoms from the one 200g ball of Jewelspun, I have just ordered some Golden Feldspar so that I can make more and perhaps I will work up a version in a smaller size too.

THE GREAT BRITISH SHAWLOGRAPHY

I finished the 2021 Westknits mystery knitalong (MKAL2021) and I’m loving it’s magnificently hideous vibe SO MUCH.

The Great British indie dyed yarn I used for this project are:

Raven Red from Beehive Yarns

Carmen from Zakami

Like Gold Mustard from Dusty Dimples

Peach Melba from Birdstreet UK

Blossom Honey from Black Elephant

I have so much yarn left over that I think I’m going to make a pair of ‘shawlography’ socks with the leftovers, swapping out the Blossom Honey from Black Elephant which is a merino single for Fox Tales from Beehive Yarns.

WIPS

Only one wip to show you this week and that is my new October socks that I’m designing and making using the lovely orange yarn from Lisa’s Attik. These socks will be going into testing soon and launched by the end of the year (fingers crossed).

MENTIONS

In this episode I mentioned two podcasters I love. Firstly Sarah, who has the Yarnmugs Podcast and secondly Marina who has the Pineapple Yarn Podcast.

If you want to subscribe to my newsletter and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.

Enjoy the podcast folks and remember to love each other.
