knitting pattern | bonfire socks
The Bonfire Socks were inspired by the 2020 Bonfire Night Mystery skein from BiffsugarYarns which is totally and utterly stunning, isn’t it? And I think that it’s a repeatable colourway for Biffsugar Yarns now.
Bonfire Night is absolutely one of my favourite nights of the year; so chilly and pretty (especially if you get to go to a fireworks display) and it’s usually the first night of autumn that I get out my woolly hat and gloves on for a brisk walk in the cold, up the road to our local park (in our case a racecourse) for a fabulous glow-stick and fireworks laden night out.
Not so much in 2020 hey? No fireworks display for us. Instead I sat at home, opened my mystery parcel (so fun) and designed a lovely pair of socks to match the gorgeous bonfirey colours of the skein.
The Bonfire Socks are made using a simple textured Andalusian pattern over four rows.
You can use any 4ply sock yarn that you like for this pattern but obviously I am using the mystery skein from BiffsugarYarn as well as a black sock yarn from Opal:
Main colour is Fawkes from BiffsugarYarns (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon) 425m per 100g
Contrast colour is Opal Solid 4ply in Black (2619) (75% virgin wool, 25% polyamide) 425m per 100g
You will also need a circular needle size: 2.25mm
Happy knitting.
*Please note this was a free pattern for well over a year.
