episode 99 | almost, nearly
EPISODE 99 SHOW NOTES
I almost, almost made it on time…..but here we are.
ALMOST FINISHED OBJECTS
I nearly got this Bon Bon Baby Blanket sample made on time - and it’s only taken me over a year to make it - I had just started the bobble edging and I realised that it was almost 11 o’clock so decided to film the 99th episode (I know!!!) instead.
For this sample I used Sirdar Snuggly DK in the Coral, Surf Blue and Biscuit colour ways as well as Cream for the borders and edging.
This second sample was made so that I can re-write the pattern into my current format, the original sample was given away in a charity auction (I still miss it), and I’m hoping to be able to send the pattern out as a free gift to all my newsletter subscribers sometime soon. If you haven’t signed up for my newsletter yet, you can do so by filling in the box below.
HALF FINISHED
My first half finished object is a second pair of Wych Elm Socks which I think are going to be a gift - although I’m not quite sure if I can bear to be parted from these beauties!
The yarn is the Flashdance sock set from Biffsugaryarns.
My second half finished object are my Apidae Socks, a pattern from Shara Lambeth @shara_made and one of the patterns on my make nine list for 2021.
I’m using Hedgerow Yarns Fairy Lights yarn that I bought in a de-stash and I have chosen to use 2.25mm needles for this pattern even though it suggests 2.5mm and the risk paid off because they fit perfectly. Phew.
Both of my beautiful project bags are from Eva at Coco & Flora on Etsy, you can find her shop here.
I’ve also half finished my Sirdar Poncho.
I put in a monumental amount of effort this week to get this back section finished, I am exhausted, ha!
I’m using Sirdar Haworth Tweed in the Yorkshire Stone colourway and this yarn was gifted to me from the lovely people at Sirdar, hurrah!.
This back section worked out to be nine pattern repeats and then some decreasing to the top edge with the middle stitches held on the needles for the roll neck section (I presume).
I think the cable pattern is stunning, can’t quite get over how much I love it and can’t wait to wear this beauty on the school run.
WIPS
I’m still working on my new neon sock design - that I seem to have trouble speaking about - I’m using a plain grey sock yarn, Socks Yeah in Danburite, as well as a number of different neon coloured yarns for the accents.
NEW & NOTABLE
I have started a new sock, these are the No-Heel Spiral Socks from La Maison Rililie and they are also part of my Make Nine 2021. I’m using my birthday skein from Clarisabeth @crochetcakes and it is an unnamed neon bright skein from Twinkknits.
I bought some of the new Downtown sock yarn from Scheepjes in the colour way Bakers Corner. I also bought some of the Scheepjes Metropolis to match it in the colours Bangalore and Monterrey. I also showed you the new Drops Nord colour way, Blush.
I also enjoyed a sneaky stash bust from Sharon at Pink Lime Crafts (her super de-stash instagram account is @pinklimecrafts_destash) snagging the Christmas 2020 skein from A Homespun House.
Enjoy the podcast folks, and don’t forget to question everything for all is not as it seems. Happy knitting.
