episode 84 | daisy
I finally got off my arse and filmed a podcast!
EPISODE 84 SHOW NOTES
FINISHED OBJECTS
I finally, after nearly two years, finished my Daisy Top and I am so happy with it (and myself, feeling all smug inside y’all).
The pattern by Marie Wallin can be found on Ravelry here or in the Filigree Collection Three book.
I used the recommended Rowan Summerlite 4ply in the Pure White colour and I originally ordered 10 balls but only used 8 - this is because I mixed up the sizes (I’m not sure how) and worked size M-L sleeves with a size S body!!! I recommend buying 10 balls if you are wanting to make the M-L size, I definitely would have used them.
The yarn is amazing, soft and lovely to work with, no splitting but of course, being 100% cotton, no stretch either so bear that in mind too.
I also used the recommended 2.5mm hook.
I worked the pattern slightly differently and did the body section first, then added the shell border on at the end - I’m not sure if that was helpful or not in all honesty, I was trying to get the perfect length for wearing the top with skirts and it didn’t quite work out so I won’t recommend it.
Overall a lovely top and a lovely summer pattern.
I also finished the Ravenna Shawl which is a pattern from Lisa Richardson in the latest book from Rowan, 67. This shawl also calls for Rowan Summerlite 4ply but I used Cascade Heritage instead, just one 100g skein in the Como Blue colourway that I had in stash.
I wasn’t really making the shawl to have a finished shawl, instead I rather enjoyed the stitch pattern and seeing the shawl take shape each day, it is no matter that it’s too small to actually wear, I had a lovely time making it. Hard blocking is required to get the best out of this pattern but is well worth it, such an enjoyable project to work on in these weird times.
I also finished my ugly Christmas socks! Ha! They are so hideous!
I know that they would have looked much better with a contrasting cuff, heel and toe and so my bad and I have quite a bit of the yarn left so will be making Betsy a pair of her own ugly socks for this Christmas - spreading joy wherever I go :))))
The yarn was a limited edition Christmas special from Stitchers Tees.
WORK IN PROGRESS
Every day at the moment I am working on my Lockdown Blanket, the pattern and all the details are available for free here.
I’ve also started a companion project to it using each hexagon colour to make a knitted Nobody’s Perfect Shawl, I will be writing up the pattern information for the blog as soon as I know what I’m going to do with all those yarn ends!!
NEW AND NOTABLE
I purchased some lovely yarn called Sunset Highway and hexagon stitch markers from Beehive Yarns as well as some amazing mustard yarn from Dusty Dimples.
Enjoy the podcast folks, and don’t forget to be awesome.
