episode 55 | is sock lady the new cat lady?

IMG_7865.JPG

It's the January New Moon in Capricorn today and a powerful time for us moon worshippers. I feel like today is the real start to my new year, time to let go, make peace and move forward to a new and brighter place. I am obsessed with @mysticmamma on instagram, if you haven't checked their artwork out you must do so now, they are also awesome with words.

The New Moon in Capricorn is calling us to rise from within and move forward with our deepest knowing. We began the year coming to terms with what is no longer working and what needs to be let go of and now it's time to move onward and trust in the unknown journey that awaits.
The beauty is we can choose to learn from our past and use our experiences as the fertile soil that will one day shoot new sprouts. Just as dandelion seeds are carried in the wind to new ground, so we are held in the great continuum of life as it unfolds.

Finished

Hip Hoppa Socks - lovely socks using the fabulous Hoppa Socks pattern from Lena Strandberg. I used Drops Fabel in Light Silver Grey and I like this pattern so much that I'm planning on making another pair already.

Betsy's Advent Socks 2017 - Betsy pulled one colour (without peeking) from my sock yarn scrap bag every day of advent and she got one amazing pair of socks on Christmas Eve - next year I'm making a pair for me too!

Gorse Fairies Cowl - designed specifically for snugging my neck when wearing my parka on dog walks. I used a vintage chevron stitch to match my gorgeous Vanishing Point mitts from last year made using Shalimar Yarns Breathless (merino/cashmere/silk) in the colour Little Miss Sunshine. I will be writing this pattern up and releasing it soon.

The name comes from the lovely poem by Cicely Mary Barker - she of Flower Fairies fame.

The Song of the Gorse Fairies
“When gorse is out of blossom,”
(Its prickles bare of gold)
“Then kissing’s out of fashion,”
Said country-folk of old.
Now Gorse is in its glory
In May when skies are blue,
But when its time is over,
Whatever shall we do?
O dreary would the world be,
With everyone grown cold—
Forlorn as prickly bushes
Without their fairy gold!
But this will never happen:
At every time of year
You’ll find one bit of blossom—
A kiss from someone dear!
