EPISODE 145 SHOW NOTES

I’m back from my summer break and we had a fabulous holiday to Mexico but I lost my mojo out there and I’m struggling to get it back!

I’m wearing my fabulous summer striped tee, it’s now washed and blocked and all the ends are sewn in (I think) she is such a beauty, I can feel my mojo being tempted just looking at her.

I used the So Faded pattern by Andrea Mowry and instead of fading just block striped using two Madelinetosh merino light colours Pop Rocks (pink) and Candlewick (yellow). I was a rebel and didn’t swatch (yikes) but made a size 4 and it’s turned out quite lovely, a bit breezy and roomy and perfect for a British summer day, definitely not for a Mexican summer day though.

FINISHED

I did finish something though, the fabulous summer watermelon socks for Betsy are done and she loves them.

I used King Cole Footsie, which is the sock yarn that Betsy loves because it’s acrylic instead of wool - she says they feel cool and comfortable not warm and itchy so who am I to argue!

I cast on 60sts on 2.25mm needles and worked these socks with a shadow wrap heel.

HALF FINISHED

I’m halfway through my second pair of October socks, this pair are going to be a gift for a friend who has a birthday in August so I better get a wriggle on.

I’m again using old stash (am doing well with the old stash usage this year), it’s Rose Garden by Cosmic Strings and I think it’s working up lovely in these socks.

I’m working them on 2.25mm needles over 64sts with a shadow wrap heel and I’m keeping them in my vintage Jibbyroo Sews bag.

I think there are a couple of designs that use this particular slip stitch pattern on Ravelry but I’m hoping that mine will give a little extra with the two heel options and the additional slip stitch to even the foot section out.

NEW WIPS

I started something lots of new things that are current WIPS, the first is the lovely Judith top from the French brand Phildar.

I’m using Phildar Phil Mixte in the colour Craie which was gifted to me from Phildar a few years ago along with the English translation - much needed as I can’t understand French crochet patterns at all!

I’m using the recommended 2.5mm hook, I didn’t swatch (again) and am making the middle size.

It’s a lovely pattern, all charted and easy/pleasant to crochet plus it’s very pretty once blocked and I think it will make a lovely summer tee.

I’m also making a pair of my Dotty Socks using the lovely and very summery Moana yarn from Somerset Yarns.

I think this yarn is so pretty and wanted to show it off but not work in plain stockinette and the Dotty Socks fit the bill perfectly. This will be my fourth pair!!

The Moana colourway is a regular one for Somerset Yarns and one of my absolute favourites, I’ve always wanted to see how yarn with the colour splodged at one end works up and it creates little stripes of colour, very pretty.

More new socks are the Thistle Thorn socks by Jane Burns. How pretty is this stitch pattern?

The pattern is in the Scheepjes YARN book, issue 11 and I wanted to make these socks as soon as I saw them.

I’m using Cascade 220 fingering in the colour Goldenrod, it’s definitely one of those stitch patterns that looks better with a solid colour yarn, and 2.25mm needles.

PLANS

I’m planning on making the gorgeous Most Ardently socks by Kelly of Row Row and Kades, such a pretty pattern and will look good with the Peony yarn from Wild Rose Yarn that I had in my stash.

I’m also planning on making this crochet lace tank top by Bergere de France in their navy Bio Coton, I think it will look lovely and will possible be a quick make.
