episode 142 | the no make up edition

EPISODE 142 SHOW NOTES

A strangely make up free edition of the show, I hope you don’t mind too much and at least I did my hair half way through eh?

I haven’t got any finished objects this week but have some lovely progress to show you on my stripey tee and my crocheted 24 day cowls.

WIPS

The first thing to show you is my So Faded striped tee.

I am loving this pattern and loving the stripes which I’m achieving with Madelinetosh Merino Light in the colours Pop Rocks (bright pink) and Candlewick (mustard yellow). These skeins were purchased in 2016 so it’s only taken me six years to use them!!

I’ve just split for the sleeves and immediately switched back to pink so now I just have to work down the body and am hoping for a further pink, yellow, pink thing with the bottom ribbing being worked in pink too, fingers crossed eh?

I’m using the So Faded pattern by Andrea Mowry in a size 4 and no I didn’t swatch (eek) and yes I am making a size bigger than usual but I do want a slightly loose fit although I’m not sure I’m going to get it!

WIPS

I’m continuing working on sample crochet 24 days cowls. I have two versions on the go, both of which are not sizing correctly (grr) and I’m going to have to make a stock version using JUST Stylecraft Special DK so I can standardise the gauge.

The first version is for a medium size in blue using Louisa Harding yarns; Noema in Party and Cassia in Prince. Both yarns are listed as DK but it’s definitely working up a bit thicker than that.

I’ve also started a second small size version using the same Louisa Harding Noema yarn in Party together with Stylecraft Special DK in Magenta, I really like the way it looks. What do you think? Pink or Blue.

I’ve continued to work on my October socks pattern.

I have two pairs on the needles and I think I’m going to work the second pair, using some old stash again this time Cosmic Strings Rose Garden, without contrast heels and toes, and I think I’m going to make these for a different friend’s birthday.
