episode 140 | cut and splice
EPISODE 140 SHOW NOTES
Back to normal today after all the excitement and drama of last week when I launched Princess Polka Dots.
It’s been a strange week, we have a lot going on at the moment and I felt rushed filming this because we had to be out of the house so apologies to you, hope my cutting and splicing makes it seem less rushy and breathless!
Also, finally put the garden footage in even though by now it’s out of date, everything has grown so much since I filmed so I will put together another garden update soon.
FINISHED OBJECTS
I finished my second pair of Betsy socks, I kinda wanted these ones for me but Betsy loves the rainbow butterfiles so much. I will try and get a nice picture of her wearing them when her legs look less bashed about from all the gymnastics she does.
I used Aloe Sockwool in White (100) for the whole sock and worked this version with a heel flap and gusset. The original has contrasting heels and toes with a shadow wrap heel.
I also used DK weight for the butterflies/bows and I found this a bit easier than holding the 4ply weight yarn double, less finicky.
Both pairs of Betsy’s Butterfly Socks are living in my beautiful Noble Character Crafts bag which was a prize from Amy for taking part in last years Make Nine Makealong.
The pattern has been tested and will be sent off to my tech editor this week for launch in June.
ALMOST FINISHED
I don’t know why I didn’t finish these this week, probably something to do with lovely Uhtred distracting me. I love these Easter socks and will get that pesky toe finished soon.
The yarn is Regia Pairfect Rainbow Color in 01731. I purchased it somewhere random and can’t remember where (typical) and I can’t find it now, so good luck to you if you want some :D
These socks are living in my Barty bag from Coco & Flora.
WIP
This weeks WIP is my Wool & Honey. I love it.
I finally split for the sleeves, phew. It felt like the rounds were getting longer and longer (they were) and I was just starting to get a tiny bit frustrated with it but now the sleeves are split and I am happy again.
I think it’s going to be a good fit but I’ve ordered some of the Knitters Cord from Beautiful Knitters so I can try it on easily and then get on with the sleeves etc.
This project is my Birthday jumper for this year and one of my Make Nine projects. I’m taking part in Amy’s #makeninemal2022 again this year and I think I’m over half-way through now, doing much better than last year.
I’m using the recommended yarn which is Brooklyn Tweed Loft in the Cinnabar colourway.
NEW
I have started a So Faded sweater, two Andra Mowry projects on the go at the same time is kinda weird though, right?
I’m modifying the pattern, not doing any fading and instead striping the two Madelinetosh colours I have from deep stash, they are Pop Rocks (pink) and Candlewick (yellow) and not doing sleeves. Hopefully it will turn out like I’m picturing in my mind, a cute and bright summer top to wear with jeans. We shall see.
