cute crochet easter bunnies
Holy crap, I made cute stuff, I really was sick.
These crocheted bunnies are being sent out into the garden on Easter morning for a little girl to hunt - poor bastards, if only they knew what was coming, even big daddy golden Lindt bunny won't be able to save them from toddler grabby hands of doom.
I got my inspiration from Big Block Sing Song (you must watch), just a squishy square with ears and a face, so easy to make, plump and delicious with just a minimal amount of embroidery (which I hate) for their bunny faces.
The pattern goes like this and is in UK terminology (video tutorial below).
Body
Chain 16 using any DK yarn and a 4mm hook.
Row 1. 1 half treble into the 3rd chain from the hook, half treble in each chain to end, turn.
Row 2. Chain 2, 1 half treble in each stitch across, 1 half treble in beginning 2 chain, turn.
Row 3. Chain 2, 1 half treble in each stitch across, 1 half treble in top of turning chain, turn.
Repeat Row 3 until you have a 12cm length. Finish.
Sew up edges, stuff like crazy (with stuffing of course) and sew up top so you have a squidgy little square.
Ears
Chain 14 using the same yarn and hook.
double crochet into 2nd chain from hook, 1 half treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 double treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 half treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 double into each of the final 2 stitches.
Now slip stitch into the top of the chain because you are going to work your way back up the other side of your work, mirroring the stitches from above, so once in place you will work.
1 double into each of the first two stitches, 1 half treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 double treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 half treble into each of the next 2 stitches, 1 double into each of the last 2 stitches - the very last stitch is a bitch to work but luckily not all that important so leave it if you don't want to bother, I personally can't be arsed.
Sew the ears onto the top of your plumpy little square.
Get some black yarn and embroider two eyes in place.
Get some pink yarn and embroider a nosey-mouth thing, I do this like a capital letter Y.
For the bum bum you can either make a mini pom pom (see video tutorial for how I do it with my fingers yo!) or get some white or cream yarn and cut lots of little strands of equal length - I do this by winding the yarn round a paper clip and then cutting the edges, works a treat - tie a longer piece of yarn around the middle and sew it onto your bunny bum.
Lovely stuff. And I got to type the words bunny bum in a blog post so I'm a happy gal this Easter.
