October Favourites

Pumpkins

I have never had the desire to crochet a pumpkin before until I saw Caroline of the Mind and Muse Crafts podcast make a really cute one and then I was sold and had to make one, no three, immediately.

I used the same pattern as Caroline which is by Yarn + Chai and I have to say that it is a really lovely (and free) pattern which is easily adaptable to different yarn weights.

I made one in super chunky yarn but it turned it gigantic and trying the get the damn thing stuffed was a bit of an effort that involved extra stuffing deliveries and much muttering under my breath. So then I made a couple of what I like to call ‘normal sized’ ones using Drops Paris and I was well pleased with myself.

Turned out lovely didn’t they?

Cobblestone Cowl

I saw this Cobblestone Cowl by @kadolphsondesigns completely by chance on instagram and I just fell in love immediately.

It uses two types of Malabrigo yarn, one chunky and the other 4ply, which is crocheted around the chunky yarn to create this amazing bobbly texture which I have seen done before (but using rope to create baskets) but not to this level of lovely prettiness.

You can buy the pattern from Kaye’s Ravelry store here.

Hexi Bee Throw

The Hexie Bee Throw is another amazing pattern from Dawn @thealmondsnug who I have featured before because I really do love her designs, she has such a way with tapestry crochet and I wish I could be better at it because I want to make all the things, y’know?

This pattern was created by Dawn as a free pattern from the We Crochet website and I can’t even bee-lieve it’s free!

How amazing!

The link to download the pattern can be found here and you can check out more pictures of the blanket on Dawn’s instagram page here.

Ember

A bit of knitting love this month too, which is unusual but not entirely unheard of.

This pattern by Yuko Shimizu @teshigotokiroku caught my eye because I really like the style of it. I have an unusual preference for cropped jumpers for some perplexing reason.

Anyway, I’ve never done stranded knitting, I’m not even sure that I want to do stranded knitting but if I did want to try it then I think this would be the pattern for me.

You can find the pattern in Yuko’s Ravelry store here.

Marseille Beret

And finally, if you’re looking for a snazzy beret pattern then look no further than here for my free Marseille Beret pattern. It’s a pattern from 2016 but I’ve revamped it and made a second sample in a single colour and I think it is the most perfectest piece of pom pommy head gear that I’ve ever seen. You can find the free pattern here.

I hope your October was wonderful and filled with autumnal walks and crunchy leaves.

Have fun with your yarn this month, be creative and happy and I’ll see you at the end of November, happy crocheting yo!
