ladder grid stitch

I thought it was about time that some of my other stitch books got a look in so this ladder grid stitch is from Linda P. Schapper's Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs. I love Linda's book because of the sheer amount of different stitches it holds, although it's a little trickier to use for a UK crocheter because she uses US terminology but also she doesn't name her stitches which is a little dull if you ask me.

This ladder grid stitch (yes I named it myself yo!), is no. 37 in her book and it goes like this:

Chain in multiples of 7 and then add 5.

Row 1. 1dc in 9th chain from hook, ch3, skip next 2ch, *1tr in each of next 2ch, ch3, skip next 2ch, 1dc in next ch, ch3, skip next 2ch; repeat from * across to last ch, 1tr in last ch, turn.

Row 2. ch1, 1dc in first tr, 1dc in next ch3 loop, ch3, 1dc in next ch3 loop, *1dc in each tr, 1dc in next ch3 loop, ch3, 1dc in next ch3 loop; repeat from * across to last loop, 1dc in loop, 1dc in 3rd or 4th ch of turning ch (the book says the next ch along but this doesn't make sense to me so just pick a chain and check it matches the other end of your work).

Row 3. ch6, skip first two dc, 1dc in next ch3 loop, ch3, skip next dc, *1tr in each of next two sts, ch3, 1dc in next 3ch loop, ch3, skip next dc; repeat from * across to last stitch, 1tr in last st, turn.

Repeat Rows 2-3 for pattern.
