episode 47 | a new pattern and a CAL
I'm delighted to announce the launch of my new pattern, Liula together with details of a crochet along (CAL) for September and October to go with it. The name Liula comes from one of my favourite Ray Lamontagne songs from his Trouble album and you can hear/watch it here although it's not the best quality video you've ever seen but his voice, oh his voice....swoons.

EDIT: 17 OCTOBER 2017
Cottonflowers Yarns is no longer trading on Etsy, for anyone with outstanding orders please contact them via their website http://www.mk-hobby-shop.de/ - alternatively, or if you are having problems, you can notify Etsy and/or PayPal via their usual routes.
//3ply, 1000m Cotton Flowers yarn in a gazillion different colourways can be purchased from Cottonflowers Yarns on Etsy: http://etsy.me/2wtpM5c the 3ply, 1000m cake retails at £16.88 (GBP) and they offer free worldwide shipping. For info, the colour I've used is 480A and the peachy colourway I'm currently hooking is 432.//
There are lots of substitute yarns available, anything that is 3ply or 4ply will work; the most popular alternative cakes being:
- Scheepjes Whirl
- Rico Cotton Degrade
- Ice Yarns Cakes Cotton Fine
- Wolltraum My Melodyy Fingering
- Katia Top Rainbow
The hashtag for the CAL is #CAKECAL and will be used primarily on Instagram where I will be reposting lovely pictures of your Liulas. I will also use the hashtag on Twitter.
EDIT: 17 OCTOBER 2017
The CAL now finishes two weeks later on 14 November.
//The CAL will officially start on 1 September and end on 31 October. Prize winners will be drawn at the beginning of November from both the chatter and the finished objects threads (so no pressure if you don't finish your Liula).//
You can use any yarn cake you like but try to make sure it is either 3ply or 4ply to get the same or similar unstructured look. You could try Scheepjes Whirl which is the same length and fibre but 4ply instead of 3ply and slightly more expensive.
My Fibre East blog post can be found here.
Prizes so far come from Kathryn at Crafternoon Treats, she has donated a 100g skein of her Fabulous Four, 4ply yarn in the colourway Summer Breeze.
I also have a set of fabulous minis from Paula at Paper Stories UK, who also donated some Harry Potter inspired stitch markers.
There will also be a number of Cotton Flowers yarn cakes up for grabs.
In other news I also finished my Hermione's Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder. The free pattern can be found here which I made using my Dance of Unicorns yarn from Hand Drawn Yarn on Etsy - this is yarn I ruined by resting it on my pink pilot pen!!! I'm also using new 2.25mm KnitPro Zing circulars, you can find them here.
The sock yarn I'm using for Darren's socks is Regia Design Line 4 ply in Tinn 02462 available here.
I bought the Aegean Sea sock yarn (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon) from Betsy Makes on Etsy because it reminded me of my fabulous holiday to Malta.
